Cai Qi, male, Han nationality, is a native of Youxi County, Fujian Province. He was born in 1955, entered the work force in 1973, and joined the CPC in 1975. Cai graduated from Fujian Normal University majored in Political Education in 1978. From 2010 to 2013, he was Director of Organization Department of CPC Provincial Committee of Zhejiang Province. From 2013 to 2014, he was Vice-Governor, People's Government, Zhejiang Province. From 2014 to 2016 he was Executive Director, General Office, Central National Security Commission. In 2017 he served as Mayor of Beijing until May 27 when he was then named Secretary of the Beijing CPC Municipal Committee. He is a Member of the Politburo of the 19th CPC Central Committee.
